Thesis Title: Re-establishing a common property regime, obstea, in Vrancea, Romania: The forest as social relations of property and power
About
I currently work on forest economy and social relationships in Romania, Transylvania. My fieldwork was in a village that experienced an economic boom after the fall of socialism and villagers became important timber traders across the whole region. I am interested in trade practices and encompassing moral ideas about human and transcendental relationships and environment; creating autonomy and dependency, secrecy and cheating, and in godparenthood practices.
